I really like where the author Jeremie Kubicek is coming from with ...

I really like where the author Jeremie Kubicek is coming from with this self help book. He concentrates on your strength and also highlights how communication may be misunderstood based on the 5 voices. As self explanatory as the book's title, Jeremie talks about how we (people) fit into 5 categories. With the first 3 chapters, you'll be taught the definition of what the 5 voices are. By here, you would have taken down notes on which voice(s) define you the most. In the following 5 chapters, he goes into details about the 5 voices (Nurturer, Creative, Guardian, Connector, and Pioneer). This is where you learn the strengths and weaknesses of the different voices and also how to interpret them. By now, you can start to identify people's voices based on the examples described in the book. This part has really been helpful because you can now associate the 5 voices with people you know. Finally some knowledge that you can apply to how you lead your team or simple communication with people you work closely with.

Before I give too much more away from the book, I like the fact that this book highlights a part of your personality that's unlikely to change. Unlike the Myers Briggs personality test, that only takes a snapshot of your personality at a given time. That could change year over year and definitely decade over decade as our life experience shape the way we react. But your strongest voice which you've defined and refined over the years is unlikely to change. This is just how we're wired.

As with all books of this nature, it doesn't give you definite answers, but guidelines based on a person's character and perceived voice. But it opens up your mind to a different aspect making you a better person. If you're bold enough as some people are (described in the book), I would pass this book around to your team members and have them learn about the 5 voices. This could easily resolve communication issues by providing common ground.

Good subject bad formatting and infomercial

This books contents is good I would give the content 2 stars but the horrible formatting and the feeling you are watching an infomercial while reading is to hard to get over. Oh wait, it is kind of an infomercial as it directs you a few times to a website for audio and video and pdf links but that is an additional fee per month out side of this book for the coaching service that is hinted at in the meat of the book. If the flatout said to purchase additional resources go to this link I would give it three stars.

I cannot stress enough how horrid the formatting is. No real paragraphs, everything is double if not triple spaced between lines, words are merged. This is not a device setting as I actually tried in on three different devices. Formatting would give it a one star but combined with an ok content but infomercial approach it still only gets one star.

Of course all opinions are subjective and more so than usually when rating the usefulness of a self-help book.
I found this book to be well structured and display tailor made "solutions" for a wide number of situations in which one might be faced with jealousy. For my taste however they seem overly simplified and boil down to the author telling you: just don't do that, or just don't think about that and the emotion will not be triggered. he stops short of telling you to not feel that, but not by much. I found no useful tools or techniques or exercises in the book to help you achieve these goals.

Adorable Book.

This is such a good book for bedtimes, while it has nothing to do with magic and fairies and what not. It is great to relax your childs mind and let them have dreams of the dinosaurs. While I do not agree with the fighting in it I understand what they are trying to do. So every night I let my 18month son pick which book I will read to him, 3 out of 10 times he picks this one. Let me add we have several books to choose from. I say it helps calm them down because there are not very many pictures in here to excite their brain, just your voice to calm them. I do love the illustrations I believe they are absolutely adorable.

~~From Hatching to Exploration~~~

This is an outstanding story about Spike and his "family". It covers the hatching from the egg, the exploration of the wilderness, a big escape and also depicts the life of a baby dinosaur!

I thought the story was really cute and a couple of things caught my attention. Spike is not impressed with his older brother, Charger. You see Charger is the eldest of the babies and he thinks he is in charge. Well, after a butting of heads and a winner is declared, they become best friends. And, despite the warnings of their mother not to go into the wilderness, they both go exploring. Guess you can imagine where this one is going, right?

An excellent story for the little ones in your life and the author suggests it is for ages 3 - 10 and P - 4.

I. would recommend this ebook with five stars fro ages 3-10 as bedtime stories as they were so good and clean ebooks that even I much older enjoyed reading these animal stories who loves to read short neat ebooks like these! There were some very colorful photos in it! I thought. it was well done and

The idea behind creating Guy Fieri Food was to pull together the stories and recipes that show how I got to where I am today. I’ve put everything into this book as if it was the last thing I will ever do. That’s a huge position to take, and everyone who participated, from family to friends to supporting teams, had the same attitude from beginning to end. It was Go Big or Go Home.

With my Guy Fieri Knuckle Sandwich team, I developed recipes for the book by brainstorming on camping trips, on airplanes, through texts, over voicemails, on cocktail napkins, and by stepping into somebody’s kitchen while on the road. Every moment, all the time, the recipe machine was on. I can’t taste it, look at it, see it, smell it, want it, or be around it without thinking what more it could be, where it could be used and how it could be served. Creating new recipes is like playing on a giant culinary playground—as long as you bring a fearless attitude you’re in the game.

This book has it all. Dozens and dozens of kickass recipes? Got ‘em. Stories of my younger days wrangling pigs, becoming Mr. Awesome Pretzel, and mastering flambé captain duties? Of course! From Guy Fieri Food: Cookin' It, Livin' It, Lovin' It: S’more Pizza

Makes 2 pizzas

Ingredients

• 2 store-bought 1-pound pizza dough balls
• 1/4 cup slivered almonds
• 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
• 1 sleeve graham crackers, crushed (about 1-1/4 cups crumbs)
• 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
• 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
• 1/4 teaspoon fine sea salt
• 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
• 1/4 cup fine cornmeal
• 3 cups mini marshmallows
• Two 4-ounce dark chocolate bars, broken into 1⁄4- inch chunks

Special Equipment: pizza peel and pizza stone (or pizza pan)

I say it on Triple D all the time— everything has a “kicker.” It’s what it takes to make the dish outta bounds. The kicker here is chili and cayenne. . . . Ooooh yeahhhhhh!

Directions

1. Preheat the oven to 400°F.

2. Form the pizza dough into two 12- to 14- inch rounds, 1/4-inch thick. Bake, preferably on a pizza stone, for 4 to 6 minutes, until just beginning to brown. (See page 157 for more help on shaping and baking pizza crusts.) Leave the oven on at 400°F.

3. While the pizza crust is baking, toast the almonds in a dry medium skillet over medium- high heat. Transfer the almonds to a plate to cool.

4. Melt the butter in the skillet. Add the graham cracker crumbs, chili powder, cayenne, and salt. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes, until the crumbs are well- coated. Remove from the heat and set aside.

5. For each pizza, top the crust with half of the marshmallows and scatter half of the chocolate over the marshmallows. Return to the oven for 3 to 5 minutes, until the marshmallows are puffed and lightly browned. Sprinkle the pizza with half of the graham cracker mixture and top with half of the almonds. Let rest 3 to 4 minutes, slice, and serve. Repeat to make the second pizza.

One of the best cookbooks around!

I collect cookbooks of ALL types and I collect signed editions. Anywhere from Gordon Ramsay to Bobby flay. I decided to write a review because I've seen a lot of dumb ones being made about this book. One guy gave a 1 star review because of how Guy dresses...as if he were going to go on a date with him. That has nothing to do with a cookbook review. Guy is actually a really funny guy and great to listen to. Thats like saying you're not going to buy a cookbook because you don't like fat people..or you don't buy books from people with blue eyes. C'mon.

For the actual book, the construction is great and the pages are thick. I personally hate cook books that are built like novels..the ones with flimsy pages, no pictures of the finished product, and all around, poor binding. You will not find this with Guy's book.

The recipes are great. A couple people have said his recipes require too many things or are expensive. All of the ingredients are mostly cheap items you will re use for other recipes in the book. And I hate to say it, but most great recipes do require a lot of ingredients. Look at any book from Bobby Flay for an example. If you want a recipe with 4 ingredients where you just mix them into a bowl and bake it, then you probably shouldn't be in the kitchen. This is a cookbook for cooks.

On that same note, the recipes actually look and taste good. Many of my other cookbooks, especially ones from Gordon, I can only find a couple recipes I think most people would like. In guy's book, its hard to find one I DON'T like.

The last thing I like about this book is how it makes you feel. It's very welcoming and the pictures are great. There are stories, how to stock your pantry, health code tips, and tips for all around culinary techniques. For example, with pasta, it talks about never rinsing your noodles under cold water or cooking them with oil in the water. This, of course, is because rinsing the noodles off also rinses the starch off so the binding for the sauce is gone.

All around, great cook book.

This cookbook is a MUST buy!

Let me first say that I love cookbooks! I can sit and read one just like a novel. I know, my family smiles whenever I get one out of the bookcase, but they all know that my little 'reading' session ends in a great meal. This cookbook is absolutely the best of both worlds; a great story and recipes that will knock your socks off! I literally spent a whole weekend with this book picking out a weeks worth of recipes to try out and OMG, did I pick good! The Penne with Cajun Hot Links and Chipotle Shrimp, Linguine and Clams, Rhode Island Calamari, and Guido's Loma Saltado were some of the best dishes I've ever prepared! Next on the ride will be Spicy Steamed Mussels. Guy gets spices and his use of them in this book couldn't be better. There is something for everyone who loves flavor in their food. This is the BEST book of the year.

Now This is a Cookbook

I love and collect cookbooks, but I find that these days any ol' body will throw some recipes together, call it a cookbook and charge $35 to $40 for it. This is the real deal! For those of us who really enjoy reading a fresh, new cookbook...This is what cookbooks were before the hype. Unique, original recipes, great photos, informative, entertaining, substantial hard bound book with lots of recipes. And, the book is very reasonably priced. It has the size and feel of a coffee table book. This is not pamphlet. You can tell that Guy put a lot of work into staying true to himself in this book. Great job!

I have been dying to make the Jambalaya Sandwich every since I saw it on tv. I'll be having that this weekend. :)

Magic Soup INTRODUCTION
We are a chef (Nicole) and a writer (Kate), and we love soup. It takes us back to basics, to the essence of simple food for the body and soul. When you eat a really good bowl of soup, it puts you in a positive frame of mind, and you know you’re nourishing your body, too. Making soup is like therapy: it’s relaxing, creative, and generous.

For both of us, eating is emotional, and we think that’s a great thing. Food should be a source of passion, of delight. Nicole can tell how a person is feeling the moment she walks into their kitchen: whether they’re at one with their world or in need of a “kitchen cleanse” (in other words, their cupboards are cluttered with lots of delicious ingredients forgotten and left unseen and unused in the corners). We can feel it, too, when we get trapped in unhealthy eating patterns and need to make a new start. For us, the first step is usually making a fresh soup to rekindle our desire for health and happiness.

Our aim is to show that cooking at home is the simple, unscientific but real-life answer to healthy living. When you cook and eat from scratch, there’s very little that isn’t good for you in moderation; at the very least, every recipe and every meal can have a bit of magic in it. Depending on what we need and what we fancy, soup can be comforting, a quick lunchtime fix or a feast for the gods. As early as humans could build fires and make watertight pots, they made soups and stews with the ingredients they had at hand, and that tradition continues. Nicole will often make “everything left in the refrigerator” soup, her own version of hunter-gathering, or an ode to Scotland with the Hotch Potch soup. Chicken soup makes us feel better when we’re poorly, while Miso or Kitchari are the perfect start to a healthy cleanse.

Cooking gathers people together, over the stove or at the table. It’s generous and giving, and sitting and chatting is as nourishing as the food itself. There is a beautiful Latvian proverb that says “a smile is half the meal”: there are times when cooking is a way to get back to the important things in life, whether you’re taking a delicious, healthy lunch to work in a thermos or roasting a few vegetables with herbs or spices and making a simple soup for a busy week ahead.

Close your eyes and imagine everything you need for a good meal. Then make soup!
